Welcome to AI Job Application Assistant ("we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, Chrome extension, AI-powered job application services, and related products (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old or have reached the age of majority in your jurisdiction to use our Services. You must also be a current student or recent graduate of a university that we support (currently Carleton University, with plans to expand to other institutions). By using our Services, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. Use of Services

You may use our Services for legitimate job application purposes, subject to these Terms and applicable laws. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including automated applications made through our Chrome extension.

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the Services to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation, including university policies and employment laws.
  • Infringe or misappropriate the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Generate, upload, or share content that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Submit fraudulent or misleading job applications or resume information.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the source code of our Services or Chrome extension.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services or university job portals.
  • Use the Services to apply for jobs you are not qualified for or interested in.
  • Share your account credentials or allow others to use your account.
  • Circumvent any security measures or access controls implemented by us or our university partners.

3. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you create or upload using our Services ("User Content"), including resumes, cover letters, job preferences, and application materials. By using our Services, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, host, store, reproduce, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of:

  • Operating and improving our AI-powered job application services
  • Generating personalized cover letters and optimizing resumes
  • Automating job applications through our Chrome extension
  • Providing customer support and service improvements

You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of sharing or publishing it. You represent and warrant that your User Content is accurate, truthful, and does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.

4. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the Services (excluding User Content) are and will remain the exclusive property of AI Job Application Assistant and its licensors. This includes our AI algorithms, Chrome extension code, website design, and proprietary technology. You may not use our trademarks, branding, or logos without our prior written consent.

Our Chrome extension and AI services are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our Services without explicit permission.

5. Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information, including job application data and Chrome extension usage information.

6. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Specifically:

  • We do not guarantee that you will receive job interviews or employment offers as a result of using our Services.
  • Our AI-generated content (cover letters, resume optimizations) is provided as a starting point and should be reviewed and customized by you.
  • We are not responsible for the accuracy of job postings or the actions of employers or university job portals.
  • Automated applications made through our Chrome extension are your responsibility, and you should monitor and review them regularly.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AI Job Application Assistant and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising out of or related to your use of the Services, including but not limited to:

  • Missed job opportunities or application deadlines
  • Employer responses or lack thereof to your applications
  • Issues with university job portal integrations
  • AI-generated content that may not meet your expectations

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AI Job Application Assistant and its affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Services or violation of these Terms, including but not limited to:

  • Misleading or fraudulent job applications submitted through our Services
  • Violation of university policies or employment laws
  • Infringement of third-party intellectual property rights through your User Content

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Terms on our website. Your continued use of the Services after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without cause or notice.
